SuperLega, Sunday on the field in Modena for the A22 derby number 76

SuperLega Credem Banca 2020/21 on the field right after the Christmas holidays for the fifth day of the second round of regular season, the sixteenth overall. On this occasion, Itas Trentino will come back to play away, facing Leo Shoes Modena on Sunday 27 December. At the PalaPanini, the kick-off is at 19.15 to allow live television coverage on RAI Sport +.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO Just eighteen days after the first round, played the last 9 December and won in only three sets, the gialloblù formation will face Modena again in the traditional A22 derby, arrived at the 76th edition. The match will give away important points for the respective rankings, which became decidedly more interesting for the two teams during the positive month of December.
“Modena is in great recovery and has found, just like what happened to us, the right cohesiveness to play great volleyball in the Champions League – said the coach Angelo Lorenzetti, presenting the match - . So, as it should be for the tradition of confrontation between these two teams, it will be a very intense and difficult game that we face with the awareness of our current tools, but without the belief that could create due to our good streak of results obtained in December”.
The gialloblù coach has to do without Dick Kooy (differentiated work for the Italian-Dutch spiker during the Christmas holidays) and will likely present on the field the starting six that has won by 3-0 the last three matches of the championship, right against Modena, Civitanova and Piacenza; it will be the first match as former on duty in Emilia for the libero Salvatore Rossini, who has worn the jersey of the Canary Company between 2014 and 2020. The one at PalaPanini will be the twenty-second match of the Trentino Volley season, which doesn’t lose from one month (last loss on 25 November, at home against Vibo Valentia) and until now has won in fifteen occasions. Until now, the gialloblù Club has played 866 official matches in its history, 466 of them away (288 victories).
THE OPPONENTS After the KO in three sets of the last 9 December in Trento (rematch of the first-round match postponed several times), Leo Shoes Modena switched gears, achieving five consecutive victories. The recent home success with Verona in four sets was only the last of a particularly favourable period for Andrea Giani’s team, which has also won against Ravenna and in the “Roeselare bubble” valid as first-round of Pool D of Champions League, a moment in which Andrea Giani’s team quickly overtook Kemerovo, Warsaw and the hosts. Between the protagonists of the positive streak, there certainly have been the setter Christenson, but also the middle blocker Mazzone and the spiker Lavia, more and more at ease in the game of the Emilians. The performance rankings then tell of a very effective Modena in service (it is the third most prolific team in terms of aces - 86 in fifteen games played) and on the block (fourth place, with 117 blocks), also thanks to the contribution offered in these fundamental by Karlitzek (23 points), Christenson and Mazzone himself (27 winning blocks). A great season is also being experienced by the freshest former on duty (together with Vettori), the libero Jenia Grebennikov: very precise in reception as well as active in defence.
