Champions League, Berlin loses by 3-0 at the BLM Group Arena

Five years after the last time, Trentino Itas returns to be between the first four teams of Europe, qualifying for the semifinal of 2021 CEV Champions League. The halfway goal, which brings back the gialloblù Club in the annal of continental volleyball, was crossed this evening at the BLM Group Arena, winning by 3-0 the second round of the quarterfinals against Berlin Recycling Volleys.
After the promising success of a week ago in Germany, Angelo Lorenzetti’s formation completed the work, securing the two sets necessary to qualify; on 2-0, Giannelli and teammates didn’t stop their run, maintaining their invincibility in the competition (the eleventh victory in as many matches played), also thanks to the victory in the third set. It was Nimir (12 points with 67%, another title as MVP) and, more in general, the blocking (eight scoring blocks), and the service (17) that make the team go to the Italian derby with Perugia that, between Wednesday 17 (in Trento) and Thursday 24 March (in Umbria) will assign a place in the final in Verona on first May. The first two sets were characterized by a high rhythm of play; Berlin did well on the field, but, in the finals, it had to deal with the major incisiveness of the hosts in the break point phase. Instead, in the third, the enthusiasm of the second lines of Trento made immediately the difference; Michieletto, Sosa Sierra, but also Argenta dragged the team to 3-0.

Here is the match report of the quarterfinals of 2021 CEV Champions League, played this evening at the BLM Group Arena.
