Trento, March 27th, 2015
On Saturday, March 28th, the two matches for CEV Cup semi-final for 2015 will begin. The second club competition in order of importance. The ENERGY TI Diatec Trentino is preparing to host at PalaTrento the Poles of ZAKSA KÄ™dzierzyn-Koźle, who have already overcame with a score of 3-2 at the ‘home’ game three days ago. Kick-off starts at 8.30pm Italian time and will be broadcasted live on Radio Dolomiti and streamed live on the Internet at www.laola1.tv.
Having played and won three consecutive finals for the CEV Champions League between 2009 and 2011 , the team coached by Radostin Stoytchev is chasing to add another victory in their history: to do this Zaksa’s team has to exceed the game with any score (3-0, 3-1 or 3-2) or win the golden set of the 15th point which will only be played upon the success of Poles at the tie break. In any case, winning this for the Trento will be their fourth final of the European Cup in their past seven seasons.
"The first leg that was played in Poland on Tuesday, made it clear how similar the technical and tactical level of the two teams are - warned Radostin Stoytchev during the presentation of the match - .We would be making a big mistake thinking that we have already past the hardest part of our task by winning in the all'Azoty Arena. We expected a tough game, and better managed our blocks and perfected our serves in Kedzierzyn-Kozle. Fortunately we can count on our home court and the public at PalaTrento that has always given us an extra boost.”
In Fact, for this season the ENERGY TI Diatec Trentino, has statistically always won at home games (16 wins from 16 matches) allowing the opponent to gain the tie break in only two previous cases (against Treia in Super League and against Roeselare in CEV Cup).
EUROPEAN STATS OF TRENTINO VOLLEY Tomorrows night match for Trentino Volley will be the 80th game in European Cups (so far they have played 62 games in the Champions League, three in Top Teams and 14 in the CEV). Their record is 65 wins and 14 defeats, the last being at PalaTrento against Belgorod on February 13th, 2014 (6 Playoffs Champions). In the previous and only participation in the CEV Cup (2005 edition), the adventures of the yellow-blues ceased in the second round after a double 3-1 defeat by Halkbank Ankara. The PalaTrento hosted the 36th international competition of its history, with 30 wins and 5 losses. In via Fersina the teams have played a total of 5 games with the Poles; the only one of the four teams that have risen to achieve victory (Belchatow, Czestochowa, Resovia and Kedzierzyn-Kozle) was just the Zaksa (3-2) on December 14th, 2012 -
ENERGY TI DIATEC TRENTINO QUALIFIES IF... To win the fifth round tomorrow night, the yellow-blues, needs any score to advance; thanks to their success in the first leg match with 3-2, they have established themselves unless a tie-break hypothesis arises in the golden set with Zaksa, which will only be played if the Poles win in five sets. If the Kedzierzyn-Kozle achieve four partials (3-0 or 3-1) they would eliminate the yellow-blues. The regulation is identical to that used in the phase of the 12 Playoffs of the CEV Champions League. Who achieves a victory in the final round will face the winner of the match between Dinamo Moscow and Asse-Lennik, who have returned to play tomorrow night after their home victory with the Russians 3-0 in the first leg match); The finals will take place between 7th and 11th of April, again with the an invitation to return.
PREVIOUSLY Trentino Volley and Kedzierzyn-Kozle have previously played five times; Yellow-Blues are favored to win 4-1. In addition to the leg match (played Tuesday in Poland and won by Stoytchev’s team (3-2) with partial 25-20, 21-25, 25-23, 25-27, 19-17), the other four previous dates refer to the group stage match of the 2012 and 2013 editions of the CEV Champions League with Kaziyski which the yellow-blues have always been able to conquer the Azoty Arena. The Poles were victorious only once before in their first match at PalaTrento in Italy on december 14th, 2011, with a score of 3-2; but Trentino Volley prevailed in the return match on the 14th of November 2012 for 3-0.
